Aside from carving out her own career as Dr Cassie McKay in the new Max medical drama The Pitt, starring Noah Wyle, Fiona Dourif has another claim to fame - her very famous father.
The 44-year-old actress and producer was born in Woodstock, New York, in the 80s, to Hollywood actor and Academy Award nominee Brad Dourif.
Earning her acting chops with roles in the Chucky horror film franchise, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, and The Blacklist, Fiona learned from the best as a child.
While her dad dominated in the movies, her mom, Joni Dourif, was a professional psychic who struggled with mental illness and died in May 2015. She was married to the actor for five years, from 1981 until they divorced in 1986.
As Fiona's star rises and The Pitt garners impressive ratings ahead of filming for its third season later this summer, we're uncovering Fiona's very close relationship with her dad, Brad.
Who is Brad Dourif?
Born on 18 March 1950, in Huntington, West Virginia, Brad, now 76, made his acting debut when he was in his early 20s, starring in various theatre shows before getting his big break.
When he turned 24 in 1975, he was cast as Billy Bibbit in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, a performance that would catapult him to international fame.
Earning a reputation for playing eccentric characters, his time on the 70s set resulted in him winning a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and an Academy Award nomination.
After playing Billy, Brad went on to voice the famous Chucky doll in the Child's Play franchise for over 30 years and starred alongside his daughter, Fiona.
Still working as an actor today, his other notable roles include Gríma Wormtongue in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Piter de Vries in Dune, and Doc Cochran in the HBO series Deadwood.
Fiona and Brad's 'very close' relationship
Brad plays Fiona's character's dad in The Pitt, and she described working with him as "a gift" and said it was a "very tender moment to shoot" during an interview with Indie Wire.
Brad has spoken openly about raising Fiona on the set of Chucky and explained that she was a "great kid" with an "out-of-control temper". He told VICE: "Ah, Fiona was… On the dial, she was an 11. Everything was a little bit bigger. She could pitch a fit that was terrifying. In many ways, she was a great kid. She just had a huge, out-of-control temper."
Fiona has regularly said she wants to follow in her famous dad's footsteps and emulate the career he has had on-screen. During the same interview about working with her dad on Chucky, Fiona explained: "It’s a Dourif family affair. I just feel so lucky I can’t even tell you. It feels like a gigantic blessing that I kind of didn’t earn, I was born into. I mean, I had to audition and test for Universal, the part certainly wasn’t offered to me, but my affiliation with the franchise, and to get to play Charles Lee Ray, just feels so lucky."
Fiona shares updates on her Instagram with her dad and pens emotional captions such as one that read: "real proud of him", next to a photo of the pair on a red carpet.
