King Charles' message
Marking his late mother's centenary, King Charles released a special video message marking the occasion. "Much about the times we now live in I suspect may have troubled her deeply, but I take heart from her belief that goodness will always prevail and that a brighter dawn is never far from the horizon," he said.
"For as a young Princess Elizabeth put it in her first ever public broadcast, aged just 14, we can each play our part 'to make the world of tomorrow a better and happier place'. It is a belief which I share, with all my heart."

Poignant style choice
The Princess of Wales, 44, made a striking appearance in an A-line gown, featuring a crew neckline, three-quarter sleeves, and a flowing skirt.
The choice of color was a departure for Kate, who rarely wears the shade. Adding a symbolic nod to her look, she appeared to wear a delicate string of pearls once owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II herself.
Kate's jewellery choices are always meaningful, so royal fans have been wondering which highly personal piece she would be selecting from her jewellery box.
Rare appearance
Lady Sarah Chatto stepped into the spotlight once again to support her favourite cousin King Charles, just one day after joining him at another centenary event. Although not a working royal, she never fails to support her family members at public events.

Family photo
King Charles and Queen Camilla took pride of place in a special new family portrait, shared on the Royal Family's X account.
"The King and Queen are joined by members of The Royal Family to remember the life of Queen Elizabeth II," the caption read.
Recreating the coronation portrait, the more informal shot put the family's close bond front and centre in the multi-generational image.
Party atmosphere
A shot taken inside the Buckingham Palace reception revealed the wonderful atmosphere. It was a real celebration of life and a joyful occasion for guests to discuss the late Queen's legacy and her 70-year reign.
Guests enjoyed champagne and a 'QEII tribute' cocktail, a non-alcoholic twist on her favorite Dubonnet served with lemon, rosemary, and tonic. Hand-crafted bunting by palace staff using repurposed historic drapes and curtains was strung from the ceiling, while The Band of the Household Cavalry provided a lively backdrop of contemporary songs.
Inside the reception
The King has declared the final designs for the national memorial to Queen Elizabeth II to be "fantastic".
He pointed out where a bronze standing statue of the late monarch by sculptor Martin Jennings will stand, at a formal entrance on The Mall, a few metres ahead of a statue of Prince Philip. "Fantastic," said the King.
"It’s a wonderful idea for the bridge to be based on the Russian Fringe tiara, the one my Mama wore at her wedding."
Also known as the Queen Mary’s Fringe Tiara, the diamond headpiece has inspired a new lake crossing, which will feature a translucent glass balustrade so that it will glow.
Special centenary celebrations
The King led a chorus of 'Happy Birthday' for three guests also marking their centenaries. Accompanied by Queen Camilla, he presented the trio with commemorative cards and helped cut a cake shared among 190 attendees.
The gathering in the historic Marble Hall — one of the few areas currently accessible during the Palace’s ongoing renovations — honoured Queen Elizabeth II’s lifelong commitment to her patronages.
Representatives from 45 organizations, including the British Red Cross and the Royal Kennel Club, were in attendance.
